Floating Fashion Week (FFW) | Canal Catwalk
AMSTERDAM – As a tribute to the new King and Queen of the Netherlands, Floating Fashion Week (FFW) presented by Hotel Pulitzer Amsterdam organizes the first Fashion Week on the water (May 21 – May 28). Backdrop scenery is the 17th century canal ring area in Amsterdam, that celebrates its 400th anniversary this year.
The Floating Fashion Week (FFW) presented by Hotel Pulitzer Amsterdam will open on May 21st with designer Sheila de Vries, who designs clothes for Queen Beatrix since 2003. In 2012 she was proclaimed Dutch Designer of the Year. All shows will be held on board of a VIP canal boat that has been transformed into a floating catwalk.
The organisation sees the Floating Fashion Week (FFW) as a tribute to the new King and Queen. King Willem-Alexander has made his achievements in the field of water management at international level. Queen Máxima, who asked Dutch designer Jan Taminiau to design her royal inauguration dress is seen by many as a style icon, promoting the Dutch fashion scene internationally.
Part of the programme of Floating Fashion Week (FFW) Portuguese fashion designer Jorge Ferreira of the brand www.vicri.com will show its latest collection of men’s clothes.
During the Floating Fashion Week (FFW), also the Dutch Model Awards powered by Apivita Natural Beauty will be granted. In recent years, Doutzen Kroes, Frederique van der Wal, Yfke Sturm and Ymre Stiekema received an Award.
